Our Group

Gingarte Capoeira Vermont is an extension of Gingarte Capoeira Chicago with Mestre Marisa Cordeiro.  Eric Johnson (Instrutor Frade) and his wife, Heather Pogue (Monitor Dourada), are students of Mestre Marisa. They moved to Vermont in 2014.   They began teaching classes in the Upper Valley in March 2015.  Classes are currently held in Hartland, Vermont.  Beginners and all levels welcome!

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form developed by enslaved Africans and their descendants in colonial era Brazil.  It is a dynamic art that blends martial art, dance, improvisation, game, music, history, and culture.
